I Have a New Look!

My sweet friend Crissy pulled off an amazing redesign for my blog and I am so diggin' it! Thank you Crissy for making my page so much more fun. And thanks for being patient with a girl who can't make decisions. You are a jewel!

We Made It!

Byron and Megan are officially husband and wife! The wedding was absolutely beautiful and thanks to many of you praying fiercely on our behalf, it went off without a hitch. Once the father of the bride gave her away, Byron, Sr. and I joined Meg's mom and dad at the altar for a family prayer that was so moving. We huddled around our sweet couple and Meg's dad led us in a prayer for the two of them. I can't think of a better way for Byron and Meg to have started their new life together.

The reception was one big celebration, but the most memorable moment was when our Brennan, younger brother/best man, toasted the bride and groom with the sweetest speech. Byron & Brennan cried, Meg cried, and the rest of us didn't stand a chance! And I was a very proud mom watching this amazing exchange between our boys & now, our girl. We are incredibly blessed!

It's Almost Here...

The wedding countdown has begun! And there has not been one dull moment! I am SO grateful for my friends who have encouraged me, blessed me, prayed for me and saved my life. Well...maybe not my life, but definitely my reputation! The groom-to-be has thrown me a few curve balls this week and the ONLY reason that I am bailing him out at this point...honestly...is so that I don't look bad! Really, if this wasn't a public affair, he'd be toast!

Oh, I'm going to miss that boy. I'm going to miss hearing him sing and play his guitar in his room when he thinks no one is listening. Many times have I stood outside his door and soaked it all in.

I'm going to miss coming home and finding a mound of clothes neatly folded on my bed because the laundry room was overflowing!

I'm going to miss turning on the surround sound, popping in the latest worship DVD and critiquing it together.

...and the list could go on and on.

This is going to be an amazing weekend and hopefully I'll have pictures to share with you soon. I can't wait! The next time we talk, I will be a mother-in-law!!!!

BAF 5 Points

Bay Area Fellowship has opened up a new campus in the 5 Points area and even though I am very excited about that, I am especially excited about this...
And this...

And this...

Yes, that's my Byron helping out with the worship and I am so proud! He is so much more talented than I ever was and I love to see him using his gifts to serve the Lord. To read more about their launch, check out Pastor Jason's blog and get the full scoop. I totally stole these pics from him!

Pandora's Box

There is a closet in my house that I never open because if I did, everything would fall out. It's a closet in our study that served as the catch-all when we moved in 4 years...yes, 4 YEARS ago. But after reading Alene's post here, I was inspired to tackle what I have come to call "Pandora's Box". Because I have not seen any of this stuff in so long, I realized that each pile of clutter needed organizing in itself. For example, piles and piles of pictures have lived in this closet. Now they need their own space. And tax returns from the last several years really should be in a file of their own. And office supplies that I did not know I had...and the list could go on and on. It was pretty overwhelming because each item I "discovered" started a chain reaction on what to do with it. But I made it through and finished my weekend project with time to spare. So thanks, Alene, for the inspiration! I feel so much better now!

Only Three Weeks Away...

It's hard to believe, but we are just three short weeks away from Byron and Meg's wedding! It just doesn't seem possible. I have to say that Meg is everything that I have ever prayed for in a daughter-in-law and I can't wait until she is officially mine. Having two boys has been the sweetest blessing, but for years I have longed for a girl of my own and I'm about to get her!

Most of my wedding to-do list is marked off except one thing. Byron and I can't seem to come up with a song for the mother-son dance. Meg and her dad are dancing to "Cinderella" by Stephen Curtis Chapman and I haven't made it through that song once without crying. So by the time their dance is over, I'll be a mess. I was really hoping to find a song for B and I that won't leave me in a heap!

This is the happy couple in New Mexico this past Christmas. Precious to me!!!

Happy 4th!

I have so much to be thankful for, but today especially, I'm thankful for the freedom to live the life I choose. And I'm grateful for those who fight to protect that freedom. My Sohl Friend says it so well...Happy Independence Day everyone!

Hi Janel!

My sweet friend Janel and her husband, David, just moved to Spain and we miss them terribly! But I just discovered the coolest thing. On the right side of my blog page I have a cluster map. Whenever someone clicks on my blog, a red dot is placed in the region where the blogger is from. And now, I have a red dot in Spain! It's Janel! Hey Janel-I can see you!!! It's just the coolest thing! Isn't it amazing...the technology that God has created to help us stay in touch with those we love, even when they're halfway around the world?!!

Love you, Janel!

Couch to 5K

I am not and have never been much of a runner. I have always wanted to, but just don't think I'm cut out for it. But Byron and I have started something new and I am loving it! It's a podcast that I stumbled upon, put together by a guy that had a desire to get in shape by running. The podcast is taken from a book called "Couch to 5K" and it's a 9 week program built to ease you from the couch to running a 5K. The podcast is set to music and Robert, the coach, tells you when to run and when to walk...almost like a personal trainer. Each week Robert increases your running time and decreases your resting time until finally, by week 9, you are able to run, run, run. I am on week 4 and I can't believe I've made it this far. It is so much fun and even though Robert, the guy talking in my ear, can't see me, I am still obedient as if he can. If I get tired, I don't quit. And I actually look forward to it because it's been fun to see the progress. I'm very results-oriented. If I don't see improvement, I give up easily. With this program, I have built up my endurance and each week I see a difference...and I love that! So if you're looking for a change in your workout, let me introduce you to Robert. You'll have to let me know how you do!
